After the water receded
The area of Boldva, North-Hungary, that has been inhabited by Roma people for centuries, regularly floods. Eight hundred people live in the 124 houses situated on this floodplain. The area could be protected by building levies, but the local government does not have the money for construction. This year, residents had to evacuate the area twice due to flooding. They lost everything. After the water receded, almost everyone moved back into their homes, even though the authorities have reported that the condition of these homes is life threatening.
